SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Demetrios I Soter, 162-150 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 16.64 g, 12 h), Antiochia on the Orontes, SE 158 = 155/4. Diademed head of Demetrios I to right within laurel wreath. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΔHMHTPIOY / ΣΩTHPOΣ Tyche seated left on throne supported by tritoness right, holding scepter in her right hand and cornucopiae in her left; to outer left, monograms; in exergue, HNP. SC 1641.3c. Beautifully toned and with an enchanting portrait of vigorous style. Some doubling on the obverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

From the Jolimont collection and that of Walter Weise, Künker 347, 22 March 2021, 812, previously privately acquired from Münzen & Medaillen AG in August 1986.
